Ex Works (EXW)

Ex Works (EXW)

Ex Works (EXW) is an Incoterm indicating that the seller's responsibility ends when the goods are made available for pick-up at their premises, with the buyer responsible for all subsequent costs and risks.

Ex Works (EXW) is an incoterm signifying that the seller makes the goods available at a specific location, typically their own premises or another named place. However, the buyer assumes responsibility for all subsequent transportation costs and risks.

In an EXW arrangement, the seller is obligated to appropriately package the goods, label them, and deliver them to the agreed-upon location, often the seller's nearest port. The seller also assists the buyer in obtaining necessary export licenses or documentation, with the buyer covering the associated fees. Once the goods are in the buyer's possession, they bear the risks and costs associated with loading, transportation, customs clearance, unloading at the destination, and any further storage or resale.

Buyers must handle the risk aspects efficiently, as any issues become their responsibility once the goods are made available by the seller.
